The Causes

The funds that we raise with your help at the Derwood Open will go to help 2 great causes.

Appalachia Service Project
Every year 15,000 volunteers travel to rural central Appalachia to take part in the Applachia Service Project (ASP), fixing up homes for low income families.  For over 25 years, the youth of Mill Creek Parish have been among them - not only helping the families there, but providing an opportunity for mission and growth for the volunteers themselves.   Though living conditions for the work teams are, to say the least, austere, sending 30 youth and adults on such a journey takes money for gas, food, shelter and building supplies.  Funds from the Derwood Open will help defray the cost of  this year's journey to take part in the Appalachia Service Project.  Find out more about ASP here.

Montgomery County Farm Park
Nestled along Rock Creek Park in Derwood, MD, the 410 acre park has been set aside by the county to preserve historical farming practices and host seasonal festivals depicting farm life both past and present.  A portion of the funds from the Derwood Open will help fund the ongoing work at the Farm.  Find out more about the park here.
